As the third largest river in China, the Pearl River measures 2,129 meters in length, with its name deriving from the Haizhu Rock (Sea Pearl Rock). When the thousand-meter long Pearl River went through Guangzhou City, a huge rock island in the center of the river was scoured time and again and became smooth and bright like a pearl, called ‘Sea Pearl Rock’, hence the name ‘Pearl River’ for the river with this rock. The river just flows through the central area of Guangzhou, and there are many old featured building on both sides of the river. The night scene viewed along the Pearl River is so chroming that you must take a look at it. The best way is by boat. There are two recommended docks for you to board the cruise boat: Xidi Dock and Dashatou Dock. You can enjoy Cantonese opera at Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Theater, Huang Huagang Theatre or Guangzhou Opera House. But the operas are all in Chinese. It may be a little hard for foreigners to understand.

Chimelong International Circus is put on every day in Chimelong Tourist Resort in Guangzhou. It is the first one in the world that uses a live-action circus stage. Chimelong International Circus has been the world’s largest and well-renowned permanent circus and has received more than ten million guests since its opening in 2000. The circus features more than 300 award-winning performers from over 20 countries in Asia, America, Europe, and Africa, along with 500 animals of 40 different species. The opening hours of the circus are from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (circus show starts from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.). That means you can get into the stage 1.5 hours in advance to wait for the start of the performance.

Nightlife Shopping – Do Shopping at Night in Guangzhou

Guangzhou is also one of shopping paradise in the country, especially for cheap clothing, jewelry, and electric products. You will find a good selection of crystal there.

It is the first pedestrian mall approved by the ministry of commerce of China in Guangzhou. Its daily traffic is as high as 600000 person-times. You’d better not look down on this small street, for it is a collection of Lingnan architectural culture, Lingnan dietary culture, and Lingnan folk customs.

7Hualin Jade Market

Hualin Jade Market mainly deals in retail, wholesale and jade and jewelry processing. It is said that the history of this street can be traced back to the early Qing Dynasty.
